NYC Packers then Movers

I've searched previous questions, and while helpful, there's not quite enough recent info. I'm looking for a moving company for a move within NYC that will also pack up everything for me. That part is most important; I don't want to have to do my own packing.
I know about citimovers.com, but it would take me days to go through their checklist of items adding their dimensions and weights..I'd rather just have your referrals.
Details if needed: A very full one bedroom Manhattan apt. with some additional outdoor furniture/grill stuff in elevator building moving to Brooklyn house with many steps leading to front door and a very flexible moving schedule.
TIA

Best answer: Flat Rate will send someone round to look at your apartment, and email you a quote with and without packing later that day. Highly recommended.

Best answer: I did Flat rate once and Oz once and next time I will do Schleppers.
Flat rate broke a table and a mirror, Oz wouldn't pack/move my plants without crazy surcharges (like $40/plant) but I've heard great things about Schleppers.

Best answer: I've used Big John's for all my moves, and I've always been completely satisfied in every way. They packed for us last time.

Best answer: Seconding Shea Movers. They moved us twice and I'd trust them with my (theoretical) collection of Faberge eggs without a second thought.

Best answer: We used Schleppers for a move and they were disastrous. Didn't use their own truck. Brought a rented Penske one instead that was full of leaks then drove it through a storm so most of our possessions were drenched. Then refused to unload our stuff at the other end while I tried to call their unavailable manager to figure out how they were going to fix the problem. Amateur hour clowns and crooks. In summary; Screw Schleppers.

Best answer: Oz was great for moving two apartments into one, but we didn't have them pack.
The last move was from Manhattan to all our stuff in storage in New Jersey for a long while and then everything to Brooklyn. That was Time Moving and Storage. They packed pretty much everything, and nothing broke, and nothing mysteriously vanished while in storage. I have no idea what it cost, because (for reasons) the landlord paid for it all. If they quote you something affordable, I would say they are worth using.

Best answer: Used Flat Rate a couple of times for packing. Everything was fine.
They're definitely on the more expensive end, though.

Best answer: Thirding Shea! Used them for two city moves and they are fast, thorough, and affordable.

Response by poster: Thanks everyone, exactly the info I was looking for. I'll be calling Shea, Flatrate, Big Johns, and Oz for walkthroughs/estimates.
