How can I make these Easter eggs scary?
March 19, 2016 3:20 PM
I'm looking for any suggestions from the crafters, artists, and haunters, on how I can make these large plastic eggs I purchased from Michaels into something scary or creepy for decorative purposed. I have a dozen, in three different sizes. Photo link attached...
There are four sets of three eggs, each with a sparkly exterior which looks easy enough to rub off. They are two pieces each, just like the tiny plastic eggs used for Easter egg hunts. The largest is about 14" tall, the smallest about 6".
I used my size 11 shoes for scale in these photos (isn't that how professionals work? ;) )
Any links to tutorials especially appreciated -- the easier, the better, but open to all ideas... from gory and outright frightening to making these into dinosaur eggs, with our without additional props.

Do you mean you want the contents to be scary? Or just the outside?

These skulls are pretty cool, and if painting is too much, just use a Sharpie for the black parts and have sparkly skulls.
Wrap the eggs in gauze, glue on some googly eyes, and make mummy eggs.
Stick a bunch of plastic spiders onto the eggs with a hot glue gun
If any of the eggs are orange, draw jack-o-lantern faces on them with a Sharpie.
Just a few ideas off the top of my head. This sounds fun!

Decoupage an image of soft-boiled fetal duck onto one?
Or, paint them like Century Eggs (again with the Balut)?
Can they hatch something? ...Something nice? Or, you know - creepy? (You never can tell.)
Maybe just dress as a giant chicken and carry one around?
And if none of these ideas strike you, well, I'll leave you with my usual: Doll Parts.
Think doll parts.
