Changing the name of my LLC in New Jersey. Simple Enough?

About 15 years ago, I started an LLC in New Jersey for a few of my business ventures. Over that the last decade and a half, I feel I have outgrown the name as it no longer represents who I am as a person nor how I want my entities to be seen....

You are not my accountant, lawyer, business manager, or neighbor...LOL
I haven't had much luck getting a live person or an email response on the NJ State Business Sites in regards to simply changing the name. I do NOT want to do a DBA, nor do I want to simply close shop and re-start the business...I know it can be done, just not sure which forms I need to fill out. Looking at the NJ Division of Business Site, two forms stick out... L-102 and C-102. Any guidance?
Upon changing the name with NJ state, I am guessing I need to inform the IRS/Big Guys of the name change as well, even though my Tax-Id should be the same, correct? Thanks for any input...

This is what I do at work. You need to file the L-102 (the C-102 is for corporations.) You can just type up a cover letter with your CC and contact info and fax it to them with the completed Amendment (or memail me if you want.)

You'll need to inform the IRS after the amendment files, yes. I'm not sure how to do that part, unfortunately. Your EIN will stay the same as it's the same entity, just with a new name.

Best answer: Oh, NJ also lets you submit online. The instructions are on the new L-102 form.
