Help me find identify this video game based on my misty recollections!

I saw a game on Steam about a week ago that intrigued me. I want to ask my more video game savvy friend about it, but since I have no idea what it's called and now I can't find it, that's proving difficult.

Here's what I know, or think I know, anyway:
--It's new and probably indie.
--It bills itself as very open ended, with many different paths and ways to achieve your goals and very little hand-holding.
--It's in a realistic, contemporary American setting.
--It uses pixel-style art and a top down perspective.
--I think the germ of the plot is that a guy gets thrown out on his ass by his girlfriend and has to claw his way into some kind of stability despite having no friends and no money.
--I remember a screenshot: it shows the protagonist in bed with some lady, and a character that is presumably her boyfriend has entered the bedroom, looking pissed off and sporting one of those "!" bubbles above his head that you see when someone's about to battle you in Pokemon.

Also: to confirm your intrigue, Always Sometimes Monsters is a fantastic game. Worth the price of admission.
