Can hypercalcification prevent cavities?

The dentist told me my teeth are hypercalcified and that is why they're strong, but when I look up "hypercalcification" it seems to be a defect. Anyone heard of this?
I am in my 30s and have never been prone to developing cavities, though I love candy and am not a terribly meticulous brusher. I went to the dentist recently and he said that my teeth have deep grooves but are unusually strong because the enamel is hypercalcified. When I google hypercalcification, everything I find describes it as a defect that stains teeth. Does anyone know what causes it? Does it commonly have a protective quality?
