Poster / wall art suggestions?
June 28, 2015 1:48 PM

Looking for something for my wall that fits all these criteria: 1. Abstract 2. Nonrepresentational 3. Light colors 4. White space 5. Around 70 inches wide by 40 inches tall.

Have already looked at art.com, allposters.com, and amazon.com. Any suggestions?

A print of one of Diebenkorn's Ocean Park paintings might fit the bill, but those are typically not so rectangular and oriented vertically, and you may not be able to find a print that meets your color criterira.

Joan Miro might meet the white space criteria, but possibly not the light colors.

What about making it yourself? Do you have a photo that matches your requirements? You local print-shop can certainly enlarge and print it. In my bedroom, I have a print of a picture of the ocean which seems entirely abstract - and black - which is what I was going for. Right now I am planning to make a print of a snow-decked landscape for my daughter's room, where the new color-theme is white. The landscape is so covered with snow that it looks abstract.

You could try searching Etsy. You might also build something simple yourself from fine handmade paper (one random example) set inside a large mat to satisfy your need for white space. An Agnes Martin poster might also work.

DeviantArt.Com has some great art and some of it is available for prints. That's where I found at for my living room.

You could also look around on spoonflower to see if there's a fabric that might work. It's easy enough to make a huge wall hanging with a couple of yards of fabric, a staple gun, and canvas stretcher bars.

Here are a few that might fit the bill (be sure preview them at 2 yards): 1 2 3 4

This is an interesting challenge.

Der_Blaue_Reiter, e.g. Vassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Robert or Sonia Delaunay.

Expressionists in the US, e.g. Robert Motherwell, Franz Kline, Willem de Kooning, Lee Krasner.

Current artists who sell their work on Etsy and similar sites:
Inaluxe: Shimmer (scroll down). Keep It Simple Circle ($35).
Jenny Prinn. E.g. Late Night Storm Glow 2.
Tracey Kafka: Pink Stripe.
