The Breakfast Club

Hey Brilliant People!
I'm wondering if anyone knows where the title for "The Breakfast Club" film came from. It's so confusing! Also, does anyone know of any scholarly research done on John Hughes' movies?
Thanks so much :)
Happy Spring!
According to IMDb: "The film's title comes from the nickname invented by students and staff for detention at New Trier High School, the school attended by the son of one of John Hughes' friends. Thus, those who were sent to detention were designated members of "The Breakfast Club". "The Breakfast Club" at that school probably took its name in turn from the title of American radio's longest running network entertainment show, broadcast from Chicago, 1933 to 1968."

Here's the Wikipedia entry on Don McNeill's Breakfast Club, the "long-run morning variety show on NBC Blue Network/ABC radio (and briefly on television) originating in Chicago, Illinois. Hosted by Don McNeill, the radio program ran from June 23, 1933 through December 27, 1968."

Tiny morsel of extra info: a script was recently found in one of the lockers in the building where they shot the film, and apparently the original title was The Saturday Breakfast Club. Googling that will bring up a bunch of news articles about it.

Seconding "You Couldn't Ignore Me If You Tried." Excellent book, almost certainly the most comprehensive on Hughes' films.
