Please help me find earrings in this style

I'm looking for a particular style of earring. I'll post an example but I'm not necessarily looking for an exact copy of that pair -- just something that matches certain criteria, which I will list.

This is the best pair I've found so far but I'd rather not spend $170, especially on something that's only plated brass (here's a link to an image in case that product page changes).

Apologies in advance for all the details. I'm just trying to provide as much info as possible to help narrow a search.

What I'm after:
-- A stud earring, in metal, that has something dangling off it. Ideally, the stud portion and the dangling portion would be similar in size.
-- It doesn't have to literally dangle. Something non-moving, like this, is fine.
-- Something small (under 1" long).
-- Something shiny. The example pair is covered in pave, but that's not necessarily my preference. All metal is great.
-- Any colour metal is ok, but I'm not crazy about really yellow gold. Nothing all black (because I want shine). Mixed metals ok.
-- Something modern & interesting, suitable for everyday wear. (For instance, I do not consider this interesting.)
-- I'd like to spend $50 max.

What I DON'T want:
-- Something that hangs off an earring hook.
-- Matte metal. I'd like something shiny.
-- Beads, briolettes, pearls or colour, including white (some black is fine). No plain balls, either.
-- Stick-straight shapes.

Please help me find these elusive, small, shiny metal stud drop earrings!

Have you checked ASOS's selection? They have some inexpensive and interesting things, like these, these, or these.

Response by poster: Thanks for the suggestions, but I have looked there with no luck. Those linked ones aren't quite what I'm after in that there's nothing dangling off the front (first two links) and plain triangles aren't interesting to me (last link). The triangle ones are very close, though! Maybe if they were filled instead of outlined, there'd be more shine or something to catch my eye!

I don't know if you'll find what you want, but I find a wide variety of styles on etsy, and many wonderful pieces. Good luck!

Have you checked the Asos sale section, mysteriously separate from its full price items? This pair is triangles with a little more going on.

I don't have a lot of time to search right now, but I'm having some luck finding similar things with the search terms "dangle stud earrings" or "dangle post earrings".

Some options from Etsy: one, two, three

I searched 'spike stud' within the earrings category.

Oh, the other thing I wanted to mention. Anyone who makes jewelry on etsy could easily change out a hook for a post. So if you find a piece with a dangle you like, consider asking the seller to customize it to your tastes for a few extra dollars. Anyone who regularly makes earrings could make the switch in 10 minutes or less if they have the studs.

Jewelry was 25% off at Anthro on Sunday, not sure if the sale is still going on (or applies to online purchases) but if you like them $130 worth you might call.

Response by poster: Thanks for all your time and effort, everyone! I truly appreciate it.

One thing I should clarify: the stud portion of the earring is just as important as the dangly part. I'd love for the stud part to have a design to it, too, rather than just being a small, generic dot or something that the rest of the jewellery hangs from. With my hair, the lobe (therefore the stud) is the most visible part.

Here's a pair I found that's almost there, but is too plain, with the stud being rather generic. But it's a good example of the points I'm trying to hit:

-- shiny metal, no coloured beads/gems/etc.
-- suitable for everyday wear
-- under $50 or so

I like the small size of these but the metal is matte and I'm not 100% on board with the stars.

These are also close. If only the upper portion were just a bit less plain.

More shine would be great here.

These two are very industrial (cogs, etc., not my style) and are not shiny, but are great examples of pieces where the stud AND dangle are interesting: [1] [2]

Response by poster: Pennypiper: unfortunately, $170 *is* the 25% off price!

Here are a few that I don't think are right, but I'm pasting them below in case they're at all helpful to you...

Possibly too gold
Also very gold
A little too matte?
Too pricey

Price is not a problem at Forever 21. But your parameters are indeed kind of hard to match. What about these or these or these from Macys?

How about something like these marcasite drops?

Ouch! I'm unfortunatately in love with those earrings now too. Though 130 would still be too much for me.

A couple more possiblities:
Maybe too yellow, but closer on shape?
and another

That same shop has the teepee earrings someone linked too above as well

Response by poster: I'm trying not to threadsit but I have a question now!

The last pair linked by polymath is vintage (and my fave of the four). I was always wary of hygiene/safety issues with vintage pierced earrings. Is a wipe with rubbing alcohol enough? If so, that opens up a bunch more possibilities.

Pennypiper: aaaauuugh I thought those "maybe too yellow" ones could be it but it turns out there is literally yellow enamel on there! It looks all gold in the photo. Those are the closest so far.

I have something to say about each pair posted here but since I can't, a general THANK YOU for all your help thus far. I've been led down some promising paths.

I think there's a black and gold version of those as well...

I'm probably barking up the wrong tree, as most of these come in longer than your desired 1" length, but what about: star medallions, gold & enamel pyramids, or pave pyramids? There are also some rose gold hearts although I'm betting those really aren't your style.

In sterling silver there are filigree dangles or crystal bows.

(Dislaimer: I have no personal experience with these lines, although I have purchased from TSC before. )

If you just go to the jewellery tab and search for earrings under your price point, you'll likely find other options I didn't include, although many do have some sort of stone.

Best answer: Pyramids Formica Earrings by LuluMayJewelry - different combination of colors available
Silver triangle studs by ChloeandDominique
Teal geometric earrings by ChloeandDominique
Bright Yellow Earrings by BlueEyedSquirrel - neon and crazy but kinda cool!
Statement Triangle & Circle Geometric Earrings by MicaPeet - she has other offerings in her shop too
Vintage Double Diamond-Shaped Sterling Silver Earrings by redpineshop
Rhombus Twain Earrings Rhombus by LuluMayJewelry - maybe not your color, but if you like the design, talk to the seller! Lots of Etsy folks have other options they just haven't listed.
Copper Earrings Brass Earrings Dangle Earrings Post by GloryDayz

And yes - I think using rubbing alcohol is totally good enough to clean vintage earrings! You could wash in a mild soap and water solution, or jewelry cleaning solution too.

Those hexagon ones you liked are actually polished - maybe they have another photo they can send you. Polished titanium isn't matte.

I'm having a hard time getting a sense of the actual style you like - your liked options are sort of all over the place!

Hope you find something you love.

And pennypiper's linked option to Acute Pave Double Drop Earrings - there are two color options. They are yellow gold with black enamel OR yellow enamel on the inside.

Response by poster: I did notice the black enamel version of that one pair but am really after shiny metal. I know I said some black is fine but that basically fills the entire center of the stud portion. I passed on the polished titanium b/c I meant "shine" not just as in metallic shine but in design.

I'm seriously considering the LuluMayJewelry "rhombus twain" earrings, thanks! I might ask if a shinier silver version is available.

Response by poster: In case anyone else is interested in this style, here are some I really like and may consider for later, though they're not 100% what I'm seeking today:

-- geometric drops (not very shiny)
-- half discs (top portion a little basic)
-- nice shapes (smaller and shinier would be ideal)

Was just on another site, browsing for gifts, and came across these. They're not shiny, but they're definitely interesting and unique! They have a few other styles too.
