Help us find a bar in NYC for a casual post-wedding soiree!

My husband-to-be and I plan to have a small civil wedding with immediate family in California (where we live), and would like to throw a casual party with drinks and dancing at a bar in Manhattan or Brooklyn so we can celebrate with our friends.
Ideally it would be a bar in Manhattan or Brooklyn with a large back area that could accommodate 60-70 people, or a small-ish bar we could reserve for our party. It would be on a weekend night for 4-5 hours. (do bars do this? how does it work?) Guests will be paying for their drinks, though we'll cover champagne for everyone.
We'd like to be able to play our own music (mostly motown/oldies/new wave) and have some room for people to dance. A bar that allows outside food would be nice - we'd like to be able to order pizzas at the end of the night.
One place we have in mind is The Commodore in Williamsburg - we like the space, aesthetic, the drinks, the convenient location for many of our guests (who will mostly be in Manhattan and North Brooklyn.) Doesn't need to be in Williamsburg though - we're open to most of Manhattan, as well as Greenpoint, Cobble Hill, Park Slope, Gowanus. We prefer dive bars and aren't super into places that are ultra modern and loungey.
Has anyone thrown a bar party (or wedding celebration) similar to this? Any recommendations or general advice is appreciated! Thanks everyone!

A friend's husband had a birthday bash at Camp (179 Smith Street) a while back. They played their own music and pretty much took over the place. Convenient to the F and G.
