Box spring vs. bed frame

I'm looking for something from Ikea to put between a new Tuft and Needle mattress and the floor. I have boiled things down to an inexpensive "foundation" (i.e. a box spring without the springs) plus legs to allow for storage, or a frame plus slats. The frame has the disadvantage of being ~twice the price ($300-400, depending on the slats, vs. $150 + $25-50 on legs). My main concern is: without a headboard, does the mattress slide around on a box spring? I would have the head of the bed against the wall, but not the side. Am I missing any other practical differences?

I know, I know, you spend a third of your life on your bed, and I'm happy to spend some money here. But I'm not so concerned about the difference in comfort between these two options (or at least I have no way of knowing it in advance given time constraints) as I am the practical differences.
