Drums in NYC

Where can I play a drum kit in New York City?

I'm looking for a place where I can show up, pay by the hour (or similar), and play a drum kit in a small room. I don't have my own gear. I'd show up with sticks, headphones, and some mp3s to play along to. Is this possible in NYC?

I played through most of my teenage years, but more or less gave it up when I moved to NYC after college, and I miss it.

Every once in a while I'll google this and I come up with band rehearsal spaces (smallest rooms w/ gear are still big enough to hold 4 people, and priced accordingly) and lessons (which, sure, I could use), neither of which are what I'm looking for.

(Assume for the sake of the question that an electronic kit in my apartment won't work.)

Places that give lessons will often let people rent the lesson rooms, which are usually set up for one instrument only so you're not paying for more space than you need. At least the place where I take lessons does this - not in NYC - and the room comes with a 6pc kit, PA, and sticks.

I walk by this place all the time called Replay - I was intrigued when I saw drum kits in a basement window under the Equinox gym on Hudston st. I was interested in the same thing, called them up and they do indeed rent by the hour. They have some large rehearsal spaces and a smaller drum kit space, which goes for $20/hour.

You could try the Studio. Solo practice is pretty cheap at $10/hr and I'm almost positive that there are drums in all of the studios.

Rivington Studios is 20/hour but you may be able to work out a deal with the folks there given you're not a whole band so it won't be as difficult a load-out load-in. They are awesome.

Seconding Rivington Studios. All their rooms have drums, just bring sticks and bang away. Good deals on weekends.

Thanks, all. Replay is a couple blocks from my office and basically exactly what I was looking for so I'm going to give that a shot first.
