Find me the perfect media cabinet/console
Actually, find me the Mexican non-union equivalent of the perfect media console. The almost perfect one already exists: here it is, the "Line Media Console" from Design Within Reach (ha!). What makes it perfect? It's long and low (less than 20 inches high), it has doors to keep prying baby fingers out, and it looks gorgeous.
But it's crazy expensive, way too expensive for the likes of us, and it's also a bit too wide. We'd really like to spend less than $800 if possible, and also need something that's less than 60 inches wide, 20 inches tall, and about 24 inches deep. Is there a cheaper alternative that ticks all of those boxes (looks good, right dimensions, doors, not a million dollars)? We're in NYC and have a car, if that makes a difference.

Jesper has this TV stand (48" L x 21" H x 20" D) available in cherry ($499) and maple ($559) finishes. There's also a 63" version that has a small doorless shelf in the middle that could really only hold harmless stuff like books or DVDs. They're a pretty standard brand you can find at most Scandinavian/modern places around the country.

(Yes, I know that Jesper one looks nothing like what you posted, but it fits the other criteria...)
Check out AllModern for a crapton of other options that are easy to filter.

Sans legs, CB2's saga credenza would fit the dimensions specified.

I should mention, we've seen the Hudson Media Cabinet sold by West Elm, and while it's close, we're really not sold on it looks-wise. It'd be better if they offered it in that natural wood color that you see in some of the example pictures, but neither black nor white really fires us up.
I'm seeing white and chocolate (dark wood) as color choices, not white and black. Chocolate appears to be the color in the examples.

I have a West Elm console (one that it looks like they don't make anymore). I would not recommend it.
I second looking at secondhand MCM dealers. I wish I had done it before I bought any furniture from West Elm; same (or better) aesthetics, same price, much better quality.

Have you looked at BDI? I bought this MCM-style long cabinet recently and really like it. It's pricey but not as pricey as the DWR one (which I also really coveted). They also just added one that looks a lot like the DWR one.

Okay, so get this: I was on Facebook and one of their ads pulled up a slatted midcentury console from Dot & Bo. It's one of those "sign up for deals" sites like One Kings Lane, but it's free. So I can't link because I didn't sign up, but turns out that the one I saw was pretty much a copy of what you're looking for... for way less. (The slats are thicker.)
Look for "slatted walnut console" in either Long ($800) or Small ($440).
