Foreign Film Search

Looking for the name of a movie about a young woman who gets unexpectedly pregnant and the bookseller she befriends who also makes audio recordings of trains. I'm about 80% sure it's Japanese (with English subtitles).

It's a slow, contemplative movie. Not much dialogue. The young woman's parents are angry that she's pregnant out of wedlock, and (I think) tell her to get an abortion, which she considers before deciding to keep the baby. The bookseller (also in his twenties) has a little shop in the train station, and he records trains going in and out of the station. He shares the recordings with the woman. Annoyingly, I can't remember the ending.

I checked the DVD out of the Santa Barbara Public Library about five years ago, but nothing turns up when I search their online catalog. But this is probably due to my weak searching skills.

I love this slow-moving film. It's called Café Lumiere and I think it was meant as a tribute to Ozu.
