Where to get my hairs did in Fishkill? Style recommendations?

I will be traveling to Fishkill, NY in September for a wedding. Due to an unfortunate current hair style from growing out a pixie cut I am feeling pretty frumpy and would like to have my hair professionally done the day of the wedding.

I am looking for recommendations for places in and around Fishkill to have this done.

Bonus points for style recommendations. Here's me today.
My hair is just above shoulder length, and curly. Plus I have an awesome (sarcasm) widows peak and very round face.

Best answer: I have no specific recommendations, but I do think that any salon in the area ought to be able to pin your hair up in a sweet updo, with pretty tendrils around your face (or black dot).

What's nice about getting your hair styled as opposed to cut or colored is, it's just for the night. So if it's not 100% of what you had in your head, it will do and you will look fine.

FWIW, I think your hair is adorable!

Best answer: Hey, ridiculous, I'm another curly girl who feels your pain vis-a-vis "unfortunate" hairstyles. (I came of age in the late '70s/early '80s, and I desperately wanted my tight curls to look good in a shag and in Farrah Fawcett "feathers." Wasn't going to happen, despite the best efforts of any number of small-town Maine stylists.)

Anyway, naturallycurly.com has a database of reader-recommended hairdressers. I don't know how far you're willing to travel for a cut, but here's a list of salons within 25 miles of the Fishkill zip code. (FYI: Not all of them include reviews.)

Good luck -- and be sure to post photos of yourself with your new 'do!

Best answer: I don't know Fishkill or where you're coming from but what I like to do (as a girl with messy, wavy frizzy, huge hair) is get my hair blown straight and sleek. They can also blow it into soft waves if you prefer. It also makes your hair look longer (if that's something you would like). Are there any blow dry places near where you'll be staying? Or a salon where someone can do that? Here are some different looks: straight, waves, another straight, little bit of wave.
