Where can I buy a German-style pencil case?

This is the sort of thing I had when I was young and it was so practical. I'd love to get something similar for my elementary school kids.

I believe the search terms you want are going to be things like pencil folio or sketch folio.

Amazon has lots of options for "roll case" or "roller case".

Response by poster: Thanks but what I'm looking for is more like a book.

Here's one option, and another.

Response by poster: That's close, but what was particular about these cases was that they had different width elastic compartments for the eraser, pencil, protractor, ruler, etc.

Best answer: This blog post talks specifically about the inexpensive German school style pencil case. As with many things, what's inexpensive in one country is either hard to find or expensive to import. I checked to see whether Aldi might import them to the US, but doesn't look like it. Perhaps you can find someone in Germany to send some over?

JetPens has a decent selection, including ones with compartments -- the Lihit Lab one in particular is nice. But they're a wee bit fancier than the one in your photo.

I'm not much help but if it opens up your search, I know that in Italian this is called an astuccio.

there's this one, but it seems a little pricey for your needs.

I'm not in a position at the moment to do a search and provide links, but I bet you might find something if you do an Etsy search that is limited to Germany. I buy from German Etsy sellers for friends who live in country and have seen many similar items on there.

Maybe this? It looks like this is a wholesaler, but it looks kinda like what you are looking for....

Best answer: I'm having good luck with "zipper stationery set" as a search term. I'm not sure where you live but Amazon has a bunch.

Best answer: There's also ebay.de for "Schüleretui" (this is lovely) but German eBay sellers typically don't sell outside Europe, and often want bank transfers rather than PayPal or card payments.

Response by poster: You are amazing, thank you! I didn't know the correct terms in the European languages so I didn't get very far in my search.

I've had good luck buying things from German sellers on eBay (and I'm in the US). Maybe it's just in the specific areas I've done that, but I've certainly had more willing to sell to me than not.

Closest thing on Etsy.

Best answer: I lived in Germany for 4 years and never encountered an eBay seller who wouldn't take Paypal.

I'm in the US now, but if you have any trouble paying (or reading the German), I've still got my German bank account, I take Paypal, and would be happy to do the transfer.

Best answer: Kipling 100 Pens Case
I have several Kipling purses and pouches (but not this pen case). Great quality product, well made with easy-care fabric and very strong zippers.
