What is the best way to preserve a tinned fruitcake.

I have a J.C. Penny fruitcake circa 1972. It is still in the tin but I want to preserve the whole thing intact. What would be the best way to preserve it. Lucite?

Seal it in a vacuum bag with some desiccants. Keep it cold. Taking oxygen and moisture out of the equation and keeping things cool will reduce most of the chemical and biochemical reactions.

Best answer: If you happen to live near a TAP Plastics store, I bet they could help you. Maybe they can even help you over the phone; in my experience they're friendly and like to hear about projects.
