Need hip hop/rap/pop songs or gangster references about $ or new shoes!
May 7, 2013 4:16 PM

It may sound silly, but I regularly pay a personal trainer via paypal and I like to have witty subject lines instead of the typical 'you've got money!'

My trainer is hugely into hip hop, rap, basketball, fashion (typically basketball-esque attire and has an obscene amount of shoes to match most outfits). Other things I thought could be funny to include are references to chihuahua's (his girlfriend has an adorable chihuahua) weight lifting (obviously), handstands, fart/poo/childish types of jokes (he's a little kid and prankster at heart).

I'd like my paypal subject line to be something witty or clever including any of the above mentioned interests in addition to money. I was thinking some sort of rap/hip hop/pop song would be best and preferably from the late 1980s or early 1990s forward since we're both in our late twenties and might not get references or slang from before then. Or current popular songs that he's likely have heard.

Some of the more clever ones I’ve used:

- I've got enough money in the bank for the two of us. Plus I gotta keep enough lettuce. To support your shoe fetish (From Fergie's song lyrics, Glamorous)

- Wanna be ballers, shot-callers? It's all about the Benjamins (Robert Bordens) baby!

These were pretty amusing for him and I'm having trouble thinking of something to top them.

Some of the more generic hip hop references for money I’ve used already:
You've got:
- Moolah
- Cabbage
- Dough
- Bacon

I've also said:
- You've got a handful of benjamins and fifteen wagon wheels.
- You've got lettuce and a little bit of spinach.

Macklemore, Wings.

"I was seven years old
When I got my first pair
And I stepped outside
And I was like, Momma
This air bubble right here
It’s gonna make me fly"

I was trying to think of a way to use Macklemore's insult of 'cold ass honky' and talking about his 'come up' from the Thrift Shop song.

you could go with, "damn, here's some cold-ass money, and it don't smell like r. kelly's sheets (piss!)."

Cause I don't like to dream about gettin' paid
So I dig into the books of the rhymes that I made
Sometimes I test to see if I got pull
Hit the studio, cause I'm paid in full.

Some other possibilities from Thrift Shop:

Dressed all in pink, 'cept my gator shoes, those are green.

Saving my money and I'm hella happy, that's a bargain, bitch.

I could take some Pro Wings, make them cool, sell those
The sneaker heads would be like "Aw, he got the Velcros"

As a freelancer, I have to say it's very difficult to improve on "You've got money!"

Maybe too obvious:
- my money's so tall that my body's gotta climb it (or something like that from "Monster." I'm assuming you'd switch up the pronouns)
- stuff six figures in my [his] damn air mattress (From "Hello, Good Morning")
- I'm in love with large bills (From "Hello, Good Morning")
