Recalling a book title and author
April 18, 2013 4:34 PM

I read a novel when I was in high school that was written I think back in the seventies or maybe the sixties. I have been trying for awhile now to remember the title and the author. I've done some searches, but I can't narrow down my search terms to where I can get search results that would be helpful. Please help me remember!

The novel is about this young man who through research in college comes upon some kind of conspiracy to do with the Nuremberg war crimes trials after World War II. He attempts to get his research published, but gets brushed off by reputable publishers, so he ends up fictionalizing his work and publishing a novel entitled Nuremberg! He subsequently becomes a famous fiction author whose line of novels all have one word titles with an exclamation point at the end.

It turns out that the man who suggested that the author turn his work into a novel actually works for Those At A Higher Level Of Power who are using the author as a way to cover up their activities by feeding details to the author so that their affairs can remain safely in the realm of fiction, beyond serious study. In the end, the author figures out he's being used and stuff happens.

That's about all I remember. Thanks for the help.

It's The Chancellor Manuscript by Robert Ludlum. Great book.
