I heard a song today with the lyrics "Sharon I'm standing in a phone box on the corner of the street/Sharon my money's running out" What was it?

Hmmm...can you give any more context? Like, if it was in a coffeeshop, what sort of other songs were being played before and after it? Did it sound fast and poppy, or slow and sad? Was it a local sort of place, or a chain, or somebody's house?

One possibility (besides misheard lyrics): Maybe you stumbled across an early recording from a local artist who hasn't made it big yet, so knowing your location might help.

It was on BBC 6 early this afternoon (US Central Time).

Were these lyrics sung or did they happen to be a spoken answering machine recording of an old man apologizing and begging for her to pick up the phone?
