How do I stop IR remotes interfering with my other electronics?
August 21, 2012 6:36 PM

My subwoofer and amp both respond to the other's IR remote control.

I recently bought a subwoofer (Velodyne) that comes with a remote control. Unfortunately, my amplifier/DAC (Peachtree Audio Nova) which also has a remote responds to the Velodyne's remote and the Velodyne responds to the Nova's remote. Aside from getting a universal remote, is there any fix to this?

Getting a universal remote won't fix this.

Put a piece of electrical tape over the IR receiver on the sub, and adjust it manually.

You could face them in slightly different directions and bounce the remote beam off a wall to one.

Try calling Velodyne and see if there's a way to switch it to a different channel or something.
