Looking for standard metadata definitions for commercial contracts

I'm working on a data interchange project that needs to store information about commercial contracts. We're looking for something like the Dublin Core but for contracts. Basically a set of standard terms / metadata like "expiration date" and "contract owner" that have already been hashed out by a committee.

Have you looked at UBL? I suspect that'll be your best starting point, although you might also be able to find an XBRL taxonomy that does what you want.

You might try contacting John Clippinger about this. His Evolvable Law project was based on the principle of translating legal contract language into computational terms that could be run through a simulator. His current work at ID Cubed is all about meta data. If he doesn't know, he'd know who would know.
