So it's not really a vineyard?

I am getting married on Sunday, on Monday morning we are flying to Martha's vineyard. What should we do while we are there?

I realize that not everything will be open yet since the summer season doesn't really begin for a couple more weeks, but I am hoping that some of you will have brilliant ideas for what we should see or do during our 4 day visit.

We are staying at in Edgartown. I would like to get out on the water - hopefully at least 1 charter company is already operating.

Do you know any good photographers there, or have a suggestion on where we might find someone (on short notice!) to do a quick, outdoor photo shoot for us?

More generally, where should we bike? What should we eat? Any and all advice welcome.

(I have seen the previous questions, but we have a little more time there, plus we have already made up our mind to visit.)

Take the bus over to Gay Cliff Heads on a non-foggy day.

Walk around Oak Bluffs and see the Gingerbread cottages.

You should definitely go see the sunset in Aquinnah on the west side of the island.

From Edgartown, it's a nice bike ride up to Oak Bluffs. The
I think that the
Flying Horses carousel might be running. It says "summer" but I was there before memorial day a few years ago and it was open. YMMV.

I don't know Edgartown too well, mostly it is just that place on the way to South Beach. In Oak Bluffs I can recommend Slice of Life cafe for delicious food. I think we ate there 3 times last summer in our week there.

Chappaquiddick is a sub-island of Martha's Vineyard that you'll need to board a tiny ferry to access, but it's home to the Mytoi japanese garden, which is the coolest outdoor place I've ever been to. (Full disclosure: I'm sheltered!)

Check Land Bank and other conservation properties for amazing trails, they put out a great map. Chappaquiddick is very bikeable, just wheel on to the On Time Ferry. Definitely go see the Gay Head Cliffs and the amazing beach below. You can put bikes on the front of the public bus to take them up-island. South Beach is one of the least-appealing beaches there, be sure to check out the really spectacular ones like Lucy Vincent. The water will be too cold for swimming unless you're from some far-northern climate. Menemsha is worth a visit. If you want to go out on a boat for fishing or just cruising around check out Banjo Charters. If the owner doesn't have his boat in the water he'll recommend someone who does.

I lived there for several years, didn't eat out much, restaurants come and go, so won't recommend any.

Seconding Slice of Life in Oak Bluffs. Also recommend Art Cliff Diner in Vineyard Haven. Amazing breakfast.
