Are there any hotels actually in JFK? If not, what hotel is the closest?

I know I should be able to google this, but apparently my google-fu is weak today.

Best answer: Looks like no; just several nearby.

Best answer: There are a bunch of hotels clustered immediately to the north of JFK airport.

Phone numbers and links to the hotels' websites are at the link.

Best answer: Yeah, they're not TOO far. They're also not necessarily ideal.

But honestly, with AirTrain and the LIRR now, it's worth the 30-minute trip to Manhattan. (Um, if you feel like spending $300 more a night. Which perhaps you do not!)

Response by poster: Thanks, folks. I'm asking because my sister is coming in from California on the red eye with her 18 month old son. I mostly want the hotel to be very convenient to the airport so that we can pick her up and take her back to the hotel so she and the baby can take a nap before we head home, about a 2 hour ride.

Best answer: Just based on anecdotal experience, the hassle of booking, traveling to, checking in, then departing a hotel near JFK will not offer any more respite then just making an efficient pickup at the airport and heading right home where they can totally relax.

Good point, but my mom and I are going to NYC the previous afternoon, so we're staying anyway.

Best answer: Ok, so this would be a hotel for you and your mom to stay in one night, and then leave early the next morning (without checking out) to get your sister and the baby, and then return for naps before checkout time, correct?

IIRC there is at least one decent Starwood/Mariott or similar very close (but not IN) JFK, but the less expensive ones nearby are pretty seedy.

Best answer: Sorry, meant to also post this handy dandy map, although I can't personally vouch for the quality of the reviews/prices/etc on the website.
