How can I go about meeting my favorite actress?
I really, really want to meet Mariska Hargitay. I don't want it to be a 30-second meeting and I'm done.... I'd like to spend a little time with her. I want to tell her how much the charity work she does means to me. I want to learn more about her and about how she finds the motivations to portray Olivia Benson on SVU.
Problem: Although I would love to see her filming SVU (having never seen a TV show filming in person), I really don't have the money to fly to New York or New Jersey where SVU is filmed, nor LA. Her website doesn't seem to list any appearances she'll be making. I live in Chicago.

You've told us about why you want to meet her, but not why she would want to meet you. You need to be doing something or be someone she would be interested in. Right now, it doesn't sound like you are.

maybe contact some blogs and see if there's any interest in an interview with her - if so, write her agent and ask for an email or phone interview. if you're not willing/able to go where she is, you'll have to settle for not face to face. if this doesn't pan out, write her a letter. as i remember, her charity work started partially because of all the letters she received. you might not get the feedback, but you'll let her know how important her work on screen and off means to you, and that's the point isn't it?
i don't think you should feel badly for this, but i just think you have to be realistic in your approach. i've written with some of my favorite performers/artists/what have you and all of the correspondences started because i simply said, "i enjoy what you do and here is why."

Response by poster: Wow, all I asked was how I can meet my favorite actress and I get accused of being a stalker and having self-centered fantasies and that I don't deserve to meet her? That hurts.
