LGBT/Migration-related Photo Project Funding?

Helping a friend try to find funding for a photo project involving LGBT refugees. She's located in the New York area. Does anyone know of any funders we should be applying for grants from?

Best answer: I suggest a Kickstarter project. Your project sounds more interesting than this and it raised a ton of cash. Instead of filling out dreary forms you make a cool video and do some promotion is all.

Agree, I know a lot of people who've gotten their project off the ground thanks to Kickstarter.
