Reputable dog rescue or shelter in Belguim?

A Belgian friend of mine's dog just passed away. Recently, when we lost one of our animals, a different friend made a donation to a shelter she had knowledge of & respected in our pet's name. I found that deeply touching, and now, I would like to do the same for this friend.

However, this friend lives in Londerzeel, Belgium. I am an English-only speaker, unfortunately, and I'm having a little trouble trying to research animal shelters/rescues in another country.

Do you know of a dog rescue or shelter in Belgium? Perhaps near Londerzeel? Particularly one that may be able to accept financial donations online?

This animal shelter in Mechelen (the closest largish town) considers Londerzeel it's turf.

If you ca do a bank transfer, they have their information up here. Bank transfers are a pretty common way to make such donations in Belgium.

Why don't you tell her what you would like to do and ask which shelter she likes? I say this both because it's any easy thing to do and because not all shelters/rescues/animal welfare groups are alike. If she is active in her local dog world, here may well be organizations she does not respect.

And does it have to be online? If that turns out to be overly difficult, you can mail a check or cashiers check.

Thanks, both of you. Phrontist, I've emailed the animal shelter you linked to - after using Google Translate on their page in the second link, I wanted to get a bit more info on sponsoring a dog house. And Lesser Shrew - that's a good thought that hadn't occurred to me.
