I would like help in finding a book mentioned in passing during one of my lesbian literature in English classes in undergrad. This was ages ago in the early 90s. The woman fell in love with a diner.

Possibly The Star Cafe by Mary Caponegro. I'm basing this solely on the reference to it in a lesbian literature class. It's a short story that involves a surreal experience in a diner for a woman named Carol, and retells the story of Eros and Psyche. She manages to transform her sexual identity into a wonderful power -it's an absolutely unforgettable story.
