Nice vegetarian place in Brooklyn

Looking for a vegan or vegetarian (or very vegan/vegetarian-friendly) restaurant in Brooklyn for an important birthday tomorrow night. Details within.

Not a lot of requirements outside of:

Nice -- not necessarily fancy, but nice.
At or south of the Atlantic-Pacific/DeKalb stops.
Can do same-day reservations.
Not outrageously expensive.

Cuisine is irrelevant. Mainly I want a place a vegetarian would go to treat themselves (as opposed to settle for.)

This post was deleted for the following reason: Heya, this kind of looks like using a spare account to get around the 7-day askme limit and we didn't hear anything last time we inquired. Please let us know what's up at the contact form. -- cortex

Maybe V-Spot? Not sure if this is "nice" enough, though. Plenty of friends have had birthdays there and it's always been a great time. It's certainly not fast food or anything.

Dao Palate? I haven't actually been, though, and can't vouch for its niceness.

I'm not sure if either of these places take reservations at all but both are worth a try.

How about Ethiopian? I like Bati on Fulton Street in Fort Greene. Warm, cozy atmosphere without being overly fancy (or pricey). It's not fully veg, but there's a vegetarian section on the menu and they offer a combo plate (yum).

I've been to Dao Palate; it's a perfectly fine entry in the "pan-Asian" mock meat category.

Try searching on Supervegan's restaurant finder.

Ooh, Bati is good.

Did not realize Dao Palate fell into that time-honored genre. From hearing friends talk about it I thought it was more Candle Cafe. Sorry!
