Search for apartments by age of building?

I'm looking for an apartment in Los Angeles and I have noticed that the niceness of a building has a strong correlation with its newness. (Or age, if it dates to the 20s-30s.) Redfin allows you to search for houses by year built; is it possible to do the same for apartments? None of the apartment-hunting sites I've seen (PadMapper &c) have this feature.

The year built should be listed on the Los Angeles County Assessor's Office website

Response by poster: I realize you can look up buildings singly, I'm more looking for the ability to search rental buildings (on a map, ideally) en masse by their age.

Best answer: I did an apartment search in LA recently (Between Downtown, Pico/Robertson, Sherman Oaks, and western Glendale, so Hollywood mainly) and I never found a service with this functionality. Wound up in a beautiful, renovated 20's-era apartment using a lot of Google Street View and careful parsing of advertisement language. If you wonk around with the Craigslist search function enough, you should be able to get decent results. (Deco, New, Renovated, etc.)

I also did a lot of driving/walking through neighborhoods that I knew I wanted to live in.
