Steak and cheese sandwich

Does anyone else make a steak and cheese sandwich with ground beef instead of shaved steak?

I love steak and cheese subs (Boston resident) but balked at making them at home because of the hassle of shaving steak very thin. Using browned ground beef covered in cheese with fried peppers and onions tastes great to me.

Then you're all set.

Is there a question here?

The question is whether or not you make steak'n'cheese sandwiches with ground beef instead of shaved steak.

No, I do not. I've actually been cutting back on my meat consumption the past few years so prefer a hamburger or a rib eye when I do a meat intensive meal. ;o)

Response by poster: Never saw a recipe for this sandwich or for sale at any fast food store. Just wondering if it's popular with anyone but me!

I have never done this, no, and I looked forward with barely contained excitement to learning whether others here have or have not.

I think the big issue is that the quality of pre-ground beef will be much poorer than the quality of any steak you bought. Maybe you could ask your butcher to shave the steak for you?
