Why isn't DNA genotyping mesmerising?

DNA genotyping isn't mesmerising. I learned, as a child, how the source code of every organism on the planet could be deciphered in a lab, which blew my mind. But I'm frankly underwhelmed after getting genotyped by Counsyl and 23andMe. I found out that I have better muscle performance and a higher risk of getting diabetes, as a result of (sometimes dubious) research, but afterwards, I lose interest. Why isn't exploring my own source code more engaging?
I don't mean to complain, and I think it's awesome that these companies have made advances in analysing your sample and putting it online. But I feel like there must be something more to knowing what's so fundamentally you. I mean, I'm more interested in playing Halo 3 than browsing my genome. I know there is something beautiful in the genome, and I sort of feel bad for letting this medical marvel not pique my interest. Anyone else feel the same way?

This post was deleted for the following reason: this is sort of chatfilter, we can't really explain why you are not interested in something. Maybe ask again in a different way next week? -- jessamyn
