Where to meet at SDCC?

Good place for a small meetup at San Diego Comic Con?

I'm going to need space for 15-30 people to meet, talk, and work together for several hours on Thursday, July 21st, starting around 8:30PM. It needs to be within easy walking distance of the convention, and it needs to either be free to use or else require a very small fee. Cafes or lounges that would require some of us to purchase inexpensive drinks or snacks would be fine, too.

Participants would be drawing, using laptops, and possibly acting out scenes in costume. A meeting room at one of the hotels would be ideal, but unfortunately my inquiries have lead to requests for a $500 fee, which I can absolutely not afford.

Our tentative plan is to meet in the Lobby Bar of the North Tower at the Marriott Marquis hotel, but a better solution would be excellent. I'd go to scout out locations myself, but unfortunately I'm in Brooklyn, so I'm at the mercy of the internet and my memory of conventions passed.
