Gmail message displaying halfway down.
June 9, 2011 4:59 PM
Gmail filter. When I use the Y shortcut to archive a message I have scrolled down to read, Gmail has started opening the next message similarly scrolled down. This means I have to scroll back up to see the beginning of the message.
Please hope me.
Occurs in FF4.01 and IE8. Happens for both my personal and work Gmail.
E does the same thing. I've had a look in settings, and can't see anything obvious.

I believe Auto-Advance (where you go straight to the next message instead of back to your inbox) is still a Labs feature - that is, it's beta. Top right corner, click the gear icon. Go into Labs and try disabling and re-enabling Auto-Advance. If that doesn't work, click the Send Feedback link immediately under the feature and send a description of your problem. Or you could search the Google Help forums for Gmail labs features and see if it's a known issue.

Thanks IndigoRain. That answer is giving me the vocabulary to try some new ways to try and fix it. I had forgotten it was a labs feature.

I can't help, but wanted to say I've been having the same issue, and I neither use key shortcuts nor have I ever enabled the auto-advance feature. (I'll try enabling and disabling it just for kicks though).
Problem started about 2 days ago, out of the blue.

I've noticed this as well. Looks like a known issue, with no workaround at this moment
