Can't find this yarn.
February 15, 2011 3:24 PM
I'm looking for two skeins of discontinued yarn, the Noro Kureyon #92. It's not on ebay and being a new knitter, I don't know where fellow hobbyists hang out on the internet to ask instead. Any pointers are greatly appreciated.
Seconding Ravelry. You can search other members' yarn stashes and see if they have what you need, then contact them to see if they'll sell it to you. I have sold yarn that way.
Ravelry is overall a great resource for new knitters!

Ravelry, Ravelry, Ravelry. Go to the yarn section and you can see people willing to swap or sell. (You have to sign up for the site, but if you're a knitter, it's the hands-down best place on the internet)

Yep.
Specifically, try this group.
You might also search stashes and e-mail someone who doesn't have it earmarked for a project.

There are a bunch of photos with numbers, and you want to click where it says "314 stashed" by the number 92. If it says "will trade or sell," then the person is willing to trade or sell it. It looks like you shouldn't have any trouble finding some for sale.

A real quick glance at Ravelry shows at least 5 people willing to sell or trade #92. Many more have it in their stashes, if you're looking for a specific color lot, some folks have mentioned that as well. I see L, G and N among the first results.

Thanks for introducing me to Ravelry and clearing up the confusion on how to look for the yarn. I thought the place would have a marketplace-type section.

Yes, Ravelry!
Here is what comes up when I searched for Noro Kureyon 92 in the "Will Trade or Sell" section of people's stashes. The usual etiquette is to try this route before contacting people who list it in their stash, but not in their "Will Trade or Sell" section of their stash. You can send a PM (private message) to anyone on the site.
If that fails, there are a lot of groups dedicated to trading/selling/searching for certain yarns/fibers that you want. Madamina linked you to the biggest one for yarn sales. You could also try the Noro group here.
good luck!

Okay, Ravelry is just the best! I contacted a lady there for her yarn, but she wasn't selling them so she took the time to check and redirect me to a website that did have them in stock. A few days later, I got my yarn. Thanks mefites!
