Dublin to Paris

Looking for a way to get from Dublin to Paris at the end of June. Is flying the cheapest and easiest way? I'm partial to taking a ferry/bus/train if this would be easier. It will be a one way trip. Thanks!

Yes. Ryanair's home base is Dubline. Flights are currently being advertised at just over £20.

Note: Ryanair are not renowned for their customer service, in case you have recently arrived from Mars.

RyanAir.com has fares from Dublin to Paris for about 13 Euros (that's about £10 or $15).

Best answer: Aer Lingus is basically a low cost airline nowadays if you don't like RyanAir. If you buy far enough in advance, you can get this flight for 15 EUR + 33 EUR taxes. Plus 15 EUR per checked bag, but normal free carry-on policies. And it only takes 2 hours. (Crazily, the shuttle bus to the airport from downtown costs 7 EUR each way.)

Also, keep in mind that RyanAir is flying into Paris Beauvais Airport which is quite a bit further from Paris than Charles De Gaulle.

If you sign up for their newsletter and bide your time for the right offer, you could go via Ryanair for as little as 99p each way, without charges. Yes, £1.98. I have done it in the past.

This is a pretty fair summary. My definition of 'easier' eliminates Ryanair because Beauvais is a drag to land at (and CDG is beautiful!) and their customer service is as noted above, but it's cheaper - just be aware that both Ryanair and Aer Lingus will charge you per checked bag, it's not unique to Aer Lingus.

(There are other airlines serving the route, btw, they're just so much more expensive that it comes down to discussing two.)

I'm completely with carbide: I've flown problem-free with Ryanair, but that was a long time ago, and I wouldn't be willing to roll the dice with them again. And Beauvais is so not a Paris airport.

Ferry/rail Diblin to London will cost you about €40, but there are no taxes or other add-ons and no extra charges for luggage (within reason). Then you would have Eurostar to Paris. The major disincentive apart from cost is the time--ferry/rail from Dublin to London will take at least six hours (I've just done it and counting taxi rides etc it took 13 hours door to door--admittedly this was on 23 Dec and there were weather-related problems at both ends). Then you would have another couple of hours on the Eurostar plus connections.

Best answer: My brother often goes from Dublin to Paris, and finds AerLingus easy and affordable; also, as others have pointed out, Ryanair lands you about 1 1/2 hour from Paris. He highly recommends doing AerLingus.
