Good vineyards near Paris?

What are some good vineyards for wine-tasting/lunch easily accessible from Paris?

I'm staying in Paris for a few days with my mother, who's about to have a birthday. I wanted to plan a day trip from the city to do some wine-tasting and get lunch. We won't have a car, but can travel by train.

You could take the train to Reims and taste champagne.

Far better to take an organised coach tour than do this yourself by train, I'd have thought. There will be a lot of possibilities if you just go through a travel agent.

I can't recommend any specific vineyards, but the area I would send you to is the Loire Valley. The train from Paris to Blois takes about 90 minutes; Paris-Tours, a little over an hour. But once you get off the train, you'll really need a car to go from place to place, so driving down may be a better option. It's about 2.5 hours one way, if you're lucky with traffic. Have a look here for a list of vineyards and suggested itineraries. Bon anniversaire to your Mom -- Tchin!

Paris to Ashford International is just under 3 hours. 10 miles away from Ashford International is the Chapel Down vineyard, with restaurant.
