Help me find a short story about aliens meeting humanity

I'm looking for helping finding a short SF story I once read, possibly on Infinity Plus. Details inside.
The story primarily comprised of a conversation between a human representative and an alien ambassador from an advanced race that had made contact with Earth.
The conversation was, at least in part, about the debate between the aliens over whether or not to make contact with humanity who some deemed too dangerous to trust with interstellar knowledge technology. Right at the end of the conversation, some human aircraft flew overhead, resulting in a querying look from the alien ambassador.
The human then informed the ambassador that human forces had just seized control of the alien spacecraft and had basically vindicated the aliens fears.
It would be great to find this story again, so I'd love if anyone can figure out where I saw it.
