MSFT & AAPL sitting in a tree...
September 14, 2010 5:57 AM

Asking for a friend...she has an Apple laptop with Microsoft Office 2004. She can't view/edit .XLSX, .DOCX documents, etc. Is there a Mac version of the compatibility viewer that is available for the Windows version of Office?

If so, please provide a link that I can send her.

I'm on a Windows PC and can't access any Mac-based information on MSFT's web site.

Thanks.

Here. Accessible even on Windows.

The search you were looking for was Open XML File Format Converter for Mac.

BTW, Open Office works as well.

A friend whose college course requires All .docx All the Time reported issues with saving .docx in OpenOffice and with the XML thing. I haven't had any issues in NeoOffice (which I vastly prefer overall despite most people's assertion that they're identical), so I recommended it. He downloaded NeoOffice and has had smooth sailing.
