Is Digital Image Processing Programming in Demand?

Will BCIT's Computer Systems Technology Diploma with a Digital Processing Option provide me with in-demand skills? What is the job market like for this type of programming?
I am thinking of registering at BCIT for a Computer Systems Technology Diploma with a Digital Processing Option and I am wondering if the programming skills I will learn here are in-demand right now.
"Emphasis is placed on construction of the tools for new media applications. Topics include image processing, fundamentals of audio and video streams and realtime animation. Various techniques are studied for making filters (Gausian, edge-detection, etc.), morphing and warping techniques, and compression (JPEG, Wavelets, and others)."
Specialized classes include basic game design, creation of a sound editing tool using C and the Win32 API, and creation of an image editing tool on Linux systems using C++.
