How do I get an anniversary present to India?

What kind of anniversary gifts can I arrange in Southern India, from the US?
So in a month or so it'll be our first anniversary. Catch is, he's in Madurai for the summer. I'd like to arrange some small token like flowers, but I have no idea about logistics/practicality. Are, eg, florists going to be willing to take phone orders for a delivery? Is it a terrible idea to give a credit card number over the phone? Am I better off just ordering something durable and having it shipped there?
(Suggestions for first anniversary gifts most welcome.)

Rediff shopping, maybe? I've only ordered books from them, though (for my parents in South India). I see Madurai in the listing of cities that they deliver gifts to.

I have arranged to send flowers, small box of sweets in Indian cities before over the internet from US and it worked out fine. I have done it more than 2-3 times. The way I would do this is -
1. google "send flowers to madurai"
2. Look for first 5 websites carefully. Does the website look professional? Do the accept american credit card? What is the price of the item I want to send? Is it affordable? Is the price fare compared to other 4 websites? Then I decide on one website and send it.
I don't have one single website to recommend, because I never really cared. Every time I ended up selecting a different website and every time it was delivered on the day with my little note.
side note: someone mentioned rediff shopping above. I would go with them if they have the service available. Rediff is one of the major reputed websites in India.
Best luck!

For books you can use Flipkart. They are reliable and delivery is quick.
