I'm getting my hemorrhoids banded, and this is my title
June 4, 2010 10:00 AM

My doctor has suggested hemorrhoid banding for my chronic butt issues. Does anyone out there have personal experience with this procedure, and would be brave enough to share it with the world? I think I'm definitely going to do it, but I'd like to know what's in store in terms of the actual procedure, healing, etc.. Thanks!

I can give you only second-hand anecdotal information: apparently it's a short but unpleasant procedure, and the first few days are painful, though partially relieved by regular sitz baths. After about a week's healing, the situation should be markedly better than it was prior to having the procedure.

It is more undignified than especially painful. If you have been through the diagnosis procedure you will have some idea what to expect. It was done as an in patient procedure and it didn't take so long -- ten/fifteen minutes maybe. There was some discomfort for a few days after but certainly nothing worse than hemorrhoids can get themselves. It's not guaranteed to work but it s certainly worth trying -- the alternatives -- hemorrhoidectomy - can be a lot worse. It wasn't a big deal at all.
