Get me out of my Seattle lunch rut
March 15, 2010 12:52 PM

I work in Seattle near the confluence of Belltown and Lower Queen Anne. Where should I get lunch?

I tend to get food to-go for lunch, but I've grown weary of all my typical places. What are some good options for takeout lunch within walking distance? I'm fine with meat, but I enjoy good vegetarian fare as well. I'm not too big on fast food, but places like Dick's are occasionally tasty. Bonus points for anything reasonably healthy.

There's a good Thai place near the opera parking lot.

Uptown China has a good lunch special.

Rotti (on Queen Anne near Mercer) is good Indian Buffet.

Tup Tim Thai is probably the best Thai food I've had in Seattle. Next to the Bank of America on Mercer.

The Irish place on Mercer makes a great pot pie or burger (TS McHughs I think its called)

Metropoliton Market on Mercer has some good eats. Hot turkey sandwhich and such.

Yummy Teriyaki is in the same complex as the Metropoliton Market is the only edible Teriyaki I have found in the entire belltown / queen anne area. Every other place (especially the various Delis that sell teriyaki like the Sandwhich Tree seem to prefer the "chicken tripe in brown water" style)

Down in Belltown Mikes East Coast Deli makes a great grilled sandwhich. I especially like the "almost thanksgiving".

If you walk up Denny then the BBQ place in the shed built on to the gas station is excellent. Pulled port / shredded beef kind of huge meat sandwhiches.

Buckley's has great pub grub. Note there are two locations, one in lower Queen Anne, one in Belltown.

I don't know if Riemann has tried Sushi Mori (used to be Sushi Kyo) on 1st in Belltown, but they have my favorite spicy teriyaki in town. The regular teriyaki is just above average.

I used to eat at Rice & Spice a lot as well. Pretty good Thai food.

I don't know if the Five Point or the Mecca will do take out, but the food is yummy if you have time to sit down for a bit. (Greasy spoon diner, no bonus points for me.)

La Vita e Bella near 2nd/wall is great. I'm sure you could get one of their sandwiches to go.

Seconding Mike's East Coast grilled sandwiches at 2nd & Cedar. Seriously, some of the best I've ever had.

Tup Tim Thai is pretty good, although not the best I've had in the area. I don't like Roti.

I hear good things about Macrina bakery. I've also been meaning to try Boulangerie Nantaise
