I need to find toy wind-up Godzillas in bulk.
February 3, 2005 11:04 AM
I'm working on a personal project where I need 100-250 wind-up sparking Godzillas. I've seen them on Archie McPhee, but I haven't been able to find them in bulk anywhere. Where can I find a supplier or someone who would sell in bulk? It's too expensive to go through a normal store, even with a discount.
Thank you!
Thank you!
I can't help you, but I really think that, whatever your project is, you should get Jairus involved.

Archie McPhee is the retail arm of Accoutrements - "We have a minimum first order of US $200 and a $100 reorder minimum. Accoutrements only sells in WHOLESALE QUANTITIES to qualified buyers, corporate promotional firms and established retailers."
They used to be pretty cool, at least they might point you to an alternate source if you don't meet their qualifications, or maybe set you up a special purchase.
On Preview: I take to long to post.

I apologize for not having anything useful to contribute, but I have to say that this is the greatest sentence ever:

Damn you googly... I just lost 20 minutes of my lunch hour to looking for a super cool Godzilla costume. I think I might undertake making one myself.

Archie McPhee didn't give you a bulk discount? You'd think if you were buying 'em by the case they'd be happy to move that many lizards.
Did you try Uncle Fun?

This might sound weird, but had Ask MetaFilter been around in 1997, I would've been asking the same question (though I was looking for the Creature From the Black Lagoon version of the toy, not the Godzillas).

Seems to me it would be a real problem getting that many toys up and running and placed in a short enough time that the first few to be wound haven't run down. What's your plan for doing this?

Thanks for the advice everyone! I think I might have my army of godzillas, and not at a cost-prohibitive price. Good times all around.
I hope this works out. It could either be a fabulous success or a spectacular failure.

ASS is _awesome_. I love those guys, if they don't cut you a deal for 100 godzillas, I don't know who will. Tell them you'll send them a picture to put in a catalog, really. Good call XQUZYPHYR.

I'd shell out a ten spot to see either. And I have.
Though not involving sparking Godzillas.
