What's your favorite Christmas-related fact(oid)?

I expect you've seen the Sinterklaas/Zwarte Piet/Krampus thread on the Blue today? Krampus, in particular, is pretty astounding to most non-German/Austrian folks.

The Biblical tradition holds that the reason Joseph and Mary were traveling to Bethlehem was to enroll in the census of Quirinius. It also has them fleeing Herod's Massacre of the Innocents shortly after Jesus' birth, because Herod wanted to kill the future King of the Jews.
Quirinius's census was in 6 AD. King Herod died in 4 BC.
