Where can I get Dr. Brown's Cel-Rey soda in Vancouver? I've looked everywhere!

I've never heard of that drink and I don't live in Vancouver, but I found this site where you can order it online.

I love scavenger hunts like this! I tried calling Max's Deli who said they don't have it but try the Chong Lee market on 22nd. I called them and they don't have it either. In fact no one seems to have even heard of it. Maybe call the Vancover Public Library? You might luck in to someone who enjoys this sort of thing.

A little more Googling and I found this forum thread, which suggests you'll find some Cel-Rey at a restaurant called Kaplan's on Oak Street.

You know, this is going to sound crazy...but growing up in butt fuck Iowa (where, as you might imagine, the Jewish population hovers around 0), they sold Dr. Brown's Cel-Rey at freaking WAL-MART. Like, the Wal-Mart had a "Jewish" section, where they sold matza ball soup mix and the like.

So...if you have a wal-mart, and I can't believe I'm suggesting this, you could try there.

When I first read this question I thought you were talking about this Brown's celery soda and was going to suggest making it yourself.

Kaplan's sounds promising, but if you can't find it there, you might want to check at a Capers or at one of the Meinhardt stores.

If you're closer to downtown than to Oak & 41st, there's a Kaplan's at 1059 Alberni St. (near Thurlow) that you can try. You might also try Omnitsky Kosher Deli at 5866 Cambie Street (between 42nd & 43rd Avenue, across from Oakridge Mall) or Sabra Kosher Bakery and Restaurant at 3844 Oak Street (between 22nd and Balfour).

Oh, also seconding hurdy gurdy girl's suggestions of Capers and Meinhardt, but you might also try the Whole Foods on Cambie & 8th or the one in West Vancouver.

The bagel place in Atlanta where I asked about Cel-Ray a couple of weeks ago (they order twice a month and were all out, curses) hinted that its days might finally be numbered. While that's one of those rumours that has circulated periodically for a while, it's something to consider.
