Looking for a good pediatrician near Potrero Hill (San Francisco)

We're expecting our first child in early August, and have started the hunt for a pediatrician. Some friends recommended Noe Valley Pediatrics (http://www.yelp.com/biz/noe-valley-pediatrics-san-francisco) but it's super busy, and ideally we'd like to find a doctor closer to where we live (18th & Missouri.)

California Pacific Medical Center has a pediatrics center closer by, in Bayview-- Bayview Child Health Center, 1335 Evans Avenue. But Bayview is poor and Noe Valley is rich, so I wonder if the two clinics are comparable (in terms of facilities, waiting room, level of care, all that.) If you've been to the Bayview center, or you go there now, would love to hear your thoughts. Ditto for Noe Valley.

Any other recommendations/thoughts on finding a good pediatrician around Pot Hill would be much appreciated.

Congrats!

Noe Valley is pretty good. It's on the bus line and near enough to the J plus they have have a parking lot.

We can get in pretty much when ever we want and their advice nurse is really good and helpful. I've heard it's hard to get into the practice AFTER you are born, so we signed up before the birth of our baby by a couple weeks. We've been going for almost a year now.

The waiting room at Noe is fine, they share it with a pain(?) practice but it's never really full.

We like Dr . Schwanke. He's really caring and thoughtful. We previously were with Dr Anne, but didn't really click with her though I think she's a good doctor.

We're about 8 blocks away, we either walk or take a zip car over. If it was much further away we might have picked someplace else closer. If you are driving any way I don't think it matters.

A friend of mine with a newborn was just telling me yesterday that she likes NVP. That said, I don't think you have anything to worry about in terms of the Bayview Center. CPMC has great doctors and the center is two years old. Maybe you should go take a look at it and see if it works for you. The only problem I can see is that it looks like there's only one doctor on staff, which might make scheduling difficult. You go to the pediatrician a ton the first year, even if it's just well baby checks so convenience isn't an insignificant factor.
