What's the best pay-as-you-go mobile deal in the UK?

I have a mobile, sans SIM card, and wondered what the best (ie. cheapest) pay-as-you-go deal is.

I currently have a T-mobile contract phone and spend about 20 mins per day dialing 0844 (1p-5p landline tariff) numbers at present. This costs me 8p p/m thru T-mobile.

I'm assuming that you're using the 0844 numbers for cheaper international calling? If so, it might be more cost-effective to use 18866. They have a local (020) access number which comes out of your free minutes, and the rates are decent. It's worked out to be my cheapest option for calling from a mobile. Couple that with this offer from Carphone Warehouse for 500 minutes for £7.99 per month on 3, and you might have a winner.

I second the shout for 3's pay as you go, but of course the handset you have right now will be no use.

Thanks for the advice.

My O2 pay as you go is a pretty good deal.

You get 300 free texts per month, so long as you top up £10. As a result, i have £10 of dedicated call time and 10 texts a day for the month.

Rubbish for people who call a lot, though...
