Try before you buy

Now that Oink is gone, where do I turn for those really, really hard to find records I want to download? If you're a member, what can I do to illicit an invite from you?

Not really much more to explain. I was trying to download some music by Amandla and another musician I just found out had collaborated from some of the members of Ween (whom I love) before committing myself to buying the records. I've survived this long without Oink thanks to BTjunkie and Pirate Bay, but I'm starting to find that there's a lot of stuff I want to sample that's just not available anywhere. I need a list of a few good, new, 'secret' or not torrent websites for people who love music in all it's many forms.
Bonus points for a torrent website that can hook me up with some weird flicks or out-there, never heard of before horror films. Thanks Askmefites!

This post was deleted for the following reason: Beggin' for invites isn't really an okay use for AskMe, generally speaking. -- cortex

So you're asking for invites to a private bittorrent tracker where you can download music in violation of copyright laws?

I'm afraid such places don't exist, or, if they did, they would have a first and second rule which prohibit talking about them.

Making friends with music bloggers is the long-term solution.

(BTW "... what can I do to illicit an invite from you?" made me smile.)

What.cd is one of the best (from what I've been able to figure out so far). Invites aren't too easy to come by if you don't know anyone (which I didn't), but you can get an invite directly from the site administrators if you jump through their hoops. These links might help you out.
