Where in New England should I get married on October 10th, 2009?
With the following requirements:
With the following requirements:
- Must have an indoor reception area for 150-160 guests
- Should be "rustic" ie: no VFW's, resorts, etc.
- Needs to be within 20 minutes of a decent sized town, that has a couple of hotels or places for folks to stay...
- Should be less than $3500, unless it has some crazy catering or something included (we're looking to keep the whole thing under $7000)
It's been a really, really long time since I've been there, but the Hartness House Inn in Springfield, Vermont is a beautiful and popular wedding site.

It seems like for most places you'll need to contact them for a quote, so I'm not sure on the price, and I'm not positive about the number of guests. I went to an October wedding at The Common Man Inn in Plymouth, NH and it was beautiful. It has a great rustic atmosphere (antler chandeliers!) but still is a classy place. Plymouth is pretty far north into NH, but is a decent sized town and must have plenty of space in hotels and such besides the inn itself.

There are a number of places in Hanover, NH that might suit your needs. The Hanover Inn is likely out of the price range. There are a few places on the Dartmouth campus that might be perfect, but not sure what the availability is for non-alums. In particular, Rollins Chapel and the Outing Club house on Occum Pond House would be lovely.

We got married at the Bedford Village Inn in Bedford, New Hampshire, near Manchester. It's lovely, and the food is -- or was a few years ago -- excellent. Might be out of your price range with that many guests.

Mr. Zizzle and I were married at the Hartness House Inn, linked above. Of course, in our case it was just us and two friends. We had a fabulous weekend and the trees were really beautiful then. (We had an October wedding, too.)
My sister was married at Spring Hill this past August. It's less than an hour from Portland and other places that have hotels and places to stay. It's a beautiful site.

I went to an October wedding at the Glenmere in Chester, NY. I don't know anything about the cost, and it's technically not in New England, but you might want to look into it.

I was married at the gorgeous Cathedral of the Pines in Keene, NH an highly recommend it if you are considering an outdoor ceremony. Unfortunately, I can't for the life of me remember the name of the banquet hall where we held the reception, but I believe there are a handful of options in the immediate area.

Mrs. Coffee and I were married here in October. If you're looking for rustic, with lots of charm and plenty of lodging, Cape Cod is a good option. The weather is beautiful in the fall.

It's a golf club, but the ballroom is on the upper floor of an old barn that has been converted.
