Student Design Journals?
October 19, 2008 1:15 PM

Do you know of any design journals that it would be feasible to submit student work to? I'm looking for either journals specifically targeted to students or journals that are not super high-end.

The only design journals I can find publish only top-notch work - where can I find some that don't have the same caliber? I'm primarily looking for engineering design, industrial design, product design, or design education, but any design journals would be good.

CMYK magazine does primarily graphic design, illustration, photography and advertising but they do have product design samples every now and then as well and the whole magazine is exclusively showing student-work.

why do you feel your work is not top notch? I ask because if it's that it doesn't look as good you might have a retoucher polish your work before submitting it and a professional photographer shoot it. it makes sense because smaller publications will get you a lot less attention than a huge one like I.D. and you should be able to get a decent deal on getting such work done as well.

Yes, CMYK is good, although I'm interested more in essays/studies on theories of design and design education. I'm looking for a journal that doesn't require any credentials to post to.
